Did you know that St. Louis is the home to the World Chess Hall of Fame? Has been since 2011! It had been in Miami for several years until the organization began scouting for a new location in the mid-to-late 2000’s. St. Louis seemed to be the likely candidate, especially since the Central West End was highly acclaimed for being chess-friendly. The museum (across the street from the cake) offers modern exhibits, educates the visitor with centuries of history and contains several pieces of chess memorabilia. Since its opening, many internationally-known chess players have visited St. Louis.
