St. Louis’ oldest park as well as the oldest park west of the Mississippi, Lafayette Park was established in 1836. The park consists of walking/running trails, a duck pond, playground, and a gazebo for special events. Like Lafayette Square, it is named after Frenchman Marquis de Lafayette, who was a volunteer under George Washington during the American Revolution.
